"I do think that it's inconsiderate to interrupt some serious personal time just to let your friend or whoever know that you're getting some. Send them an e-mail later if you must let someone know. Of course, I've been in situations where the phone just kept ringing over absolute bull and once my partner did pick up to say that I was otherwise occupied and to call back in an hour or two, and maybe I'd be free by then.
