"It is the worst thing to ever happen to music! Yes, people are being given a chance that they wouldn't normally get, but that is just lowering the standards for other artists. I think one season was okay, but it has gotten ridiculous. The singers aren't even that talented anymore. It feels like every season the bar is lowered and every season the winner is just a mediocre singer. Why is America supporting mediocrity?!?!?! "

If the judges had final say, then it might be a decent show. To call it a talent competition is RIDICULOUS! "

"Reality shows are the lowest common denominator in television. While they may be entertaining, they do NOTHING to contribute to the advancement of either television or, in the case of American Idol, music. Yes, some great artists have come from the show, but there are far more musicians out there waiting for their shot, but it's harder and harder to get it because of these "big-bang" shows. I hate it, but it is fun to watch."
